Rio Grande ICE Transfer Issue
Public ICE contract material identifies Rio Grande County Jail in an ICE detention agreement record. Current operational use should be verified before making a case-specific conclusion, but the practical release question remains clear: a county release may mean release to another agency. Ask the sheriff whether the person was released to the community, transferred to ICE, picked up by USMS, moved to another county, or sent to CDOC.

Use ICE ODLS Carefully

- Search ICE ODLS when an immigration transfer or hold is possible.
- Use immigration court information if the question is court status rather than detention location.
- Check BOP, USMS, CDOC, or another county if the release record points elsewhere.
- Return to the sheriff or court for the local official-action record.

When ODLS Has No Result
No ICE result does not explain the entire release event. The person may have been released locally, transferred to another non-ICE agency, searched under a different name, or outside ODLS coverage. Use the sheriff record and court docket to identify the next custody system before assuming the path ended.
